Breasts and Eggs- Mieko Kawakami

Ageing hostess Makiko has travelled to Tokyo for breast enhancement surgery with her sister and daughter. The daughter has recently stopped speaking as she struggles to understand with her own changing body and her mother's self-obsession.

Fast forward seven years and we are with Natsuko, the sister, as she returns to their native city and reflects on the summer of the ‘breasts’. A sharp, intimate, character driven tale of what it means to be a working class female in Japanese society.
